Over the course of last term with the topic of Victorians, pupils in Year 4 and 5 have designed and created a room to make a collaborative class Dolls House. They began the topic by looking at a dolls house that belonged to Miss Bell's grandmother and discussed what rooms they saw and what they had in them. They chose the rooms they would each like to make and designed the room on paper. From there they spent a few weeks making and creating the furniture to go inside the rooms. They used fabrics and other recyclable materials to make these and used the glue guns to hold everything together. Moving on they created the flooring using the maths process of tessellation and thought about their colour choices from looking at Victorian tiles. This was then turned into smaller tiles by scanning into the copier and shrinking using the iPads. They finally made the wallpaper by looking at William Morris designs. They had an A5 piece of paper with some starting lines to help them as they created a tile design. Again these were scanned and shrunk and using the iPads they rotated and reflected these patterns to make a repeated design. Fantastic work Year 4 and 5, they look brilliant! 🏠
