Part-time Teacher of Science (0.5-0.6 FTE)

Thetford Grammar School has a strong reputation for academic excellence and pastoral care, our results at GCSE and A level are some of the best nationally. Due to continued growth across the Senior School, we are recruiting for an excellent Part-Time Teacher of Science to join our successful and popular Science department. Results in this department are consistently high, and all three sciences attract good numbers of enthusiastic and talented pupils at GCSE and A level. Ability to teach Key Stage Three and GCSE classes with a specialism for Physics are essential.

Boarding Families

We are seeking caring individuals, couples or families, to welcome international pupils into their home. Willing and able to provide a supportive environment for these pupils to live, relax and study in outside of school hours, Boarding Families are an integral part of school life at TGS providing a home-away-from home for our bright, polite and engaging international pupils.

As well as being part of the school's boarding network and gaining experience of working with young people, Boarding Families are given regular safeguarding training and open access to a wide range of CPD-certified courses covering more than 40 education-related areas. Boarding Families are provided with ongoing support and opportunities to meet and discuss developments with the school's Senior Leadership Team.

Head of Studies - China

TGS opened its first International Prep school campus in 2018 in Shanghai, due to the overwhelming success this was shortly followed by a second campus in the city and, soon after, a further nursery in Changsha, the capital of central China’s Hunan province. The school campuses are world-class, purpose built and equipped with the latest technology and learning tools. 

The prep schools are closely linked to TGS Thetford, sharing its ethos and vision we seek to appoint an outstanding, passionate Early Years Teacher with the vision, ambition and drive to assist the Head in delivering a bold and inspirational leadership for our rapidly expanding prep schools in Changsha and Shanghai.  You will strive to create and uphold an environment for teaching and learning that empowers teachers and pupils to achieve their fullest potential and ensure the values of TGS Prep are upheld in accordance with the policies of the whole school values. 

The post holder will have primary responsibility for design and implementation of quality assurance systems and processes to ensure that the pastoral and educational programs are of an excellent standard whilst remaining fully complaint with all relevant legislation.  

Candidates will be educated to UK degree level and have a strong understanding of, and demonstrable success within, early years education. The role will be a challenging and busy one requiring collaboration with colleagues in China and the UK. A flexible approach and an aptitude for team work will be essential.

Early Years Practitioners - Changsha

We are looking to appoint a team of outstanding practitioners with experience in teaching ages 3 to 6 years to join our development of a bespoke programme of learning for delivery to pupils in Changsha, China. We are looking for highly-motivated individuals to join us in Thetford in January ahead of going out to Changsha in March 2020.

Candidates will have a proven track record of success within, and a strong understanding of, EYFS/Pre-Preparatory education in the UK to degree level. The role will be a challenging and busy one requiring collaboration with colleagues in China and the UK. A flexible approach and an aptitude for teamwork will be essential.

Our international staff will have the full support of a Head who is widely renowned within the educational sector in China, a parent body fully invested in their child's success, and our senior and middle leaders in the UK. This is an exciting opportunity to gain international experience and possible leadership opportunities and would suit candidates looking for challenge, variety and career progression.

A generous remuneration package including transport, meals, a monthly allowance, accommodation in a single apartment walking distance from the school, a trip home each year and a tourist trip anywhere in China each year will also be available. Holidays will be in line with the China education system.

In addition, we will offer staff that successfully complete two years internationally the opportunity to work at Thetford Grammar School, England, our 3-19 day and boarding school in the UK (subject to candidates having suitable right to work in this environment).
