Teaching Assistant

Thetford Grammar School is seeking an enthusiastic and energetic Learning Support Assistant to join the Senior School.

This role will primarily require the successful candidate to support a specific student in either the primary or secondary school to access all areas of the curriculum but may also involve general in-class support in English, Maths and Science lessons.

The school would welcome applications from a Level 3 (or higher) qualified TA. This role could be the ideal step in a teaching career and as such may also be suitable for a GAP year or post graduate student.

Teacher of EYFS and Key Stage 1

Thetford Grammar School requires a qualified Teacher of EYFS and Key Stage 1 for a full-time post commencing September 2022, or as soon as possible thereafter. 

With a history as a seat of learning stretching back over 1400 years, today we are a 3-19 day and boarding school that achieves excellent outcomes for pupils at every stage of education. 

Across our school, small classes, hard-working pupils, caring teachers and excellent parent-teacher relationships combine to ensure the highest standards of academic and personal development. In our Prep school, pupils follow our bespoke Exploration Curriculum which supports our mission for pupils to 'discover the world,' whilst maintaining standards beyond those expected of nationally.

The successful candidate will have excellent subject knowledge and teaching skills, and will embrace an innovative approach to the curriculum. 

The role will involve working with a small team who are redesigning our EYFS syllabus to fit with our STEAM-focused Prep curriculum. A passionate enthusiasm for the pedagogy of young learners, and a collaborative approach with an emphasis on sharing best practice within the Prep School are essential. All staff are expected to contribute to our extra-curricular clubs programme.

The ability to deliver PE and Games sessions across the Prep school would be a distinct advantage.

Boarding Families

BOARDING FAMILIES

We are seeking caring individuals, couples or families, to welcome international pupils into their home. Willing and able to provide a supportive environment for these pupils to live, relax and study in outside of school hours, Boarding Families are an integral part of school life at TGS providing a home-away-from home for our bright, polite and engaging international pupils.

As well as being part of the school's boarding network and gaining experience of working with young people, Boarding Families are given regular safeguarding training and open access to a wide range of CPD-certified courses covering more than 40 education-related areas. Boarding Families are provided with ongoing support and opportunities to meet and discuss developments with the school's Senior Leadership Team.

Head of Studies - China

TGS opened its first International Prep school campus in 2018 in Shanghai, due to the overwhelming success this was shortly followed by a second campus in the city and, soon after, a further nursery in Changsha, the capital of central China’s Hunan province. The school campuses are world-class, purpose built and equipped with the latest technology and learning tools. 

The prep schools are closely linked to TGS Thetford, sharing its ethos and vision we seek to appoint an outstanding, passionate Early Years Teacher with the vision, ambition and drive to assist the Head in delivering a bold and inspirational leadership for our rapidly expanding prep schools in Changsha and Shanghai.  You will strive to create and uphold an environment for teaching and learning that empowers teachers and pupils to achieve their fullest potential and ensure the values of TGS Prep are upheld in accordance with the policies of the whole school values. 

The post holder will have primary responsibility for design and implementation of quality assurance systems and processes to ensure that the pastoral and educational programs are of an excellent standard whilst remaining fully complaint with all relevant legislation.  

Candidates will be educated to UK degree level and have a strong understanding of, and demonstrable success within, early years education. The role will be a challenging and busy one requiring collaboration with colleagues in China and the UK. A flexible approach and an aptitude for team work will be essential.
