Year 10 GCSE Product Design The brief was to design a storage shelf / coat hook product from steel, the context being an entrance hall or outside building / utility room. Using the iterative process, our students have modelled and developed their sketches into various ideas in card order to produce a final product from steel and wood. With thanks to Tom, Noah, Dom, George and Harry. #TGSTogether #DigitalExhibition #30DaysOf #ArtAndDesign #Showcase #Achievement #Talent #YoungArtists #YoungDesigners #Thetford #Norfolk #Suffolk

Amelia - Year 11 - GCSE Textiles “My growth and decay piece was influenced by the landscapes where I live and the nature surrounding it. The decaying bark on the trees, the derelict buildings broken and rusting, but out of all of this decay the new life forms from the old. All of this describes my piece of work. My main inspiration for creating this piece comes from Pete Monaghan who is an artist that uses different media making collages of decaying and old buildings. I used corrugated cardboard to represent the decaying roof of the buildings and bubble wrap to print, creating different textures. For my 70s piece of work, my top and mini skirt, I created my own floral pattern that was influenced by Georgia O'keeffe radical depictions of flowers and the vibrant colours of the 70s. I used my favourite media of screen printing to create the pattern on my material.” #TGSTogether #DigitalExhibition #30DaysOf #ArtAndDesign #Showcase #Achievement #Talent #YoungArtists #YoungDesigners #Thetford #Norfolk #Suffolk

Sophie - Year 13 - Graphic Design Surface Design “I took inspiration for this project from the works of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, creating a wallpaper design for a reflection room in The Royal Chelsea Hospital - home to retired soldiers of the British Army. I was particularly inspired by Sir John Everett Millais’ painting ‘Ophelia’, known for its detailed depiction of flora which reflected the Victorian interest in the ‘language of flowers’. I focused my design on the symbolism of flowers to commemorate the veterans in residence at The Royal Chelsea, such as magnolias for dignity and nobility. To make the piece, I created two repeat patterns from my designs which I transferred onto lino and carved. While the process of carving was painstaking at times, the reward of hand-printing my designs and seeing the final results made it all feel worthwhile. Following the wallpaper prints, I went on to make a lampshade and set of cushions to complete the project.” #TGSTogether #DigitalExhibition #30DaysOf #ArtAndDesign #Showcase #Achievement #Talent #YoungArtists #YoungDesigners #Thetford #Norfolk #Suffolk

Year 7 have recently been working on a collaborative Art & Maths project. The task required the students to use rotations and reflections to create pieces of art inspired by various art styles. The work in the photo was created by Harriet (top left), Rupert (top right), Theo (bottom left) and Connie (bottom right). Great work Y7! #TGSTogether #Collaboration #art #maths #designs #artist #inspiration #reflections

Last week our Y3 and Y4 class collaborated to solve various challenges, including making a tunnel, tying sticks together using natural objects and being inventive stacking objects on top of each other. They were not concerned about a little light rain and really enjoyed their challenges! #Discovertheworld #TGSTogether #outdoorlearning #challenge #inventions #thegreatoutdoors #rainwontstopus #norfolk #suffolk
