Early Years Practitioners - Changsha

We are looking to appoint a team of outstanding practitioners with experience in teaching ages 3 to 6 years to join our development of a bespoke programme of learning for delivery to pupils in Changsha, China. We are looking for highly-motivated individuals to join us in Thetford in January ahead of going out to Changsha in March 2020.

Candidates will have a proven track record of success within, and a strong understanding of, EYFS/Pre-Preparatory education in the UK to degree level. The role will be a challenging and busy one requiring collaboration with colleagues in China and the UK. A flexible approach and an aptitude for team work will be essential.

Our international staff will have the full support of a Head who is widely renowned within the educational sector in China, a parent body fully invested in their child's success, and our senior and middle leaders in the UK. This is an exciting opportunity to gain international experience and possible leadership opportunities and would suit candidates looking for challenge, variety and career progression.

A generous remuneration package including transport, meals, a monthly allowance, accommodation in a single apartment walking distance from the school, a trip home each year and a tourist trip anywhere in China each year will also be available. Holidays will be in line with the China education system.

Early Morning/Midday Supervisor

Job Description


Head of Prep School


7.45am to 8.45am Mon - Fri

12.25pm to 1.35pm Mon - Fri


To ensure the security, safety, well-being and care of the Prep and Pre-Prep pupils on their arrival at school until Registration and during the lunchtime break, promoting their social, emotional and physical development.


The key duties of the post holder are as follows:



·       Supervising the pupils on their arrival into school on the playground until their Form Tutor collects them for Registration

·       Dealing with minor first aid incidents, if trained, following school’s procedures for recording and reporting


·       Supervising pupils during the lunch period in the dining hall, playground, cloakrooms and classrooms, ensuring a safe caring environment and maintaining good order and discipline.

·       Taking the pupils from the dining room to the classroom and from the classroom to the playground, ensuring they are appropriately dressed for the weather.

Dining room

·       Organising and supervising the washing of hands and hygiene of Pre-Prep pupils and entry into the dining room.

·       Assisting with the serving of the pupils' lunches, cutting of meat and other food (Pre-Prep) and removal of food and equipment when they have eaten their lunch.

·       Maintaining appropriate standards of table manners and eating habits, promoting good behaviour and a calm atmosphere.

·       Organising and supervising the children during clearing of tables and exit from dining room.


·       Supervising the pupils during their playtime, ensuring their safety and physical and mental wellbeing.

·       Maintaining good order and discipline and dealing with any misbehaviour that may occur in accordance with the school’s behaviour policy.

·       Resolving minor disputes between pupils.

·       Assisting in the supervision of activities, including setting out and storing of equipment.

·       Dealing with minor first aid incidents, if trained, following school’s procedures for recording and reporting.

·       To check toilet areas to ensure they are clean and being used appropriately.

·       Ensuring when classrooms or hall are used during the midday break because of poor weather, the children are quietly occupied and the room is left tidy, ready for afternoon school.


• The role is required to work both indoors and outside when supervising the children.

• All school employees must be aware of the need for ensuring safeguarding and child welfare arrangements for the school and its pupils. The school will require you to undertake a check of criminal records under the DBS system.

• The school will require you to undergo safeguarding training.


• Experience appropriate to working with young children

• Awareness of health, hygiene and safety issues

• A caring and “common sense” approach

• Good communication skills

• Understanding of need for confidentiality

• Understanding of safeguarding principles (training will be provided)


·       First aid training

·       Knowledge of behaviour management
