Gus

Former Student

Hi. My name is Augustus Altuccini, or Gus, for short. I attended Thetford Grammar School from year 9 through to Upper Sixth and I studied Maths, Physics and Chemistry at A-level. Afterwards, I left Thetford Grammar School
to study Aerospace Engineering with a foundation year at Swansea University.

In my first year of studies, I joined the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserves as an Officer Cadet with the Universities of Wales Air Squadron. I learned to fly solo and, in addition, because of my high academic results, I was accepted onto an exchange program for a semester abroad at Texas A&M University. While studying at Texas A&M I represented not only Swansea university, but also the RAF, becoming the first member of the Ministry of Defence to attend Texas A&M’s Corps of Cadets officer training school this century.

Currently, I am in my penultimate year of study, taking a specialization in satellite design and rocket propulsion, and I have now applied to join the Royal Air Force full-time as a pilot.
